Thousands of years old, the city has been built up, trashed and rebuilt; it is now full of anachronistic buildings of other ages dotted among modern styles of construction. Cut through by a river, the north bank is largely modern construction, the southern regions holding more anachronisms. The Imperial Palace is here and many great arenas, for the city is home to gladiatorial combat, voluntary in this age (but not always so in the past), a tradition watched over by the dragons who dwell here on the great mountain whose slopes hold their homes and the Imperial Palace. This is the above all the city of the Emperor.
The highest status arena in Axis, where the Emperor himself comes to see games, presided over by Yalaran, a Gold Dragon of great age. Many wonder who will take over once he dies. All gladiators here are voluntary ones. Spectacular games are held on the major holidays.
Found in the Dock district and run by the potent Cleric Burgwarther. This is a shrine to Erathis, Melora, Sekolah, and Blibdoolpoolp. It extends into the water and includes flooded areas with holy magic so both sea and land creatures can breathe. Any sensible sailor makes a sacrifice here before setting sail to ensure Sekolah's people don't prey on the ship.
Based in the Garrison district, the Blue Company are some of the most famous mercenaries in Axis, maintaining a force of heavy pike infantry and longbowmen. They also have a smattering of wizards and the skills to build siege equipment and use it. They are led by Morinehtar the Blue Wizard, who claims to be from another universe. Whether or not this is true, he does possess a lot of magics useful for killing orcs and other evil things and various light magics. The Blue Company only takes jobs he approves of, but there's a lot of work fighting monsters.
Found in the Goldring district, this place sells luxury carpets and tapestries, made by hand by craftsfolk from Shali in the styles of their homeland. Most notably, they are a source for those who wish to have a flying carpet.
In the 10th age, the Von Meisterburgers earned their place in the nobility fighting against Demi-Demons. Now they are basically decadent freaks whose parties are amazing and who have a high level of getting killed by the Inquisition for having sex with succubi. Or so people whisper. They have large estates close to the Fangs and their estate is a fake swamp, sustained by magic, with houses on stilts. They are known to possess several magical swamp boats, driven by giant fans.
This gang dresses up like the rebel nobles who eventually were exiled to Ascolais and claim to be 'Dukes'. They are noted for their skill with rapiers and their ability to argue about anything endlessly as if they had extensive academic backgrounds. How they got such a background, no one knows.
Geofferson was born in Rabbleward, but he managed to educate himself and develop an alchemical system to clean laundry which has made him hugely rich; he now lives in a penthouse apartment in Upside and has stores all over Axis, with branches now opening in Glitterhaegen and Horizon. Many espect him to rise to the nobility eventually.
The Snoop is actually named Shining Scales; he is a bronze draon who can't help sticking his nose into other people's business. Sometimes he meddles in petty human affairs and sometimes he just needs to know. Then he tells everyone. He lives in Wyrmblessed but may appear ANYWHERE, especially if you don't want him to. He can smell that, they say.
Dedicated to gods relevnt to Dragon interests, it's found in Wyrmshadow and is the central worshipping point for the city's Dragonics. The Emperor shows up once a year on Dragon Day for special celebrations. A gold dragon basically lairs in the upper story of the building and guards it. It's a good place to get in contact with dragons if you have business that won't annoy them.
