The Blue rules this half-ruined city, stocking it with 'civilized' monsters. Bring lots of bribe money but you can find treasures in the ruins and make amazing deals in the Goblin Market. This is the above all the city of The Blue.
It's not easy to be so corrupt that Drakkenhall won't let you run your operations on the shore, but this ship has been in the harbor for twenty years, functioning as a combined theater, dining hall, brothel, and gambling den. This is where you go to watch things like squid/human intercourse or to see a mind flayer eat someone's brain for your entertainment. It's been destroyed four times but is always back within a few days.
This rock juts up in the harbor and is part of an underwater temple of Sekolah; if you want to negotiate peacefully with Sahuagin, this is the place to go. Sacrificing here also guarantees a monster-free trip across the sea, though it can't stop pirates. There are human sacrifices, but they don't sacrifice pilgrims. You think.
It is generally assumed this massive red dragon is the Red's representative in Drakkenhall; she seems to spend all her time playing with her gemstone collection and hiring adventurers to bring her gems. There's some reason to think she's too bloated to fly for long. But that doesn't make her safe. Still, she does keep a deal. She is known to have a contract with several Glitterhaegen families to trade information on gemstones.
There is a cult of Four Heads in a Sack (one of the old Serpent Gods) in Drakkenhall; it's theoretically illegal, so one of the hat shops in the city is a front for it. No one knows which one for sure. Thokkor, a being of uncertain origin, is the high priest; he claims to have brought back secrets from another universe to empower his cult. While people are turning up headless and dead, there has yet to be any sort of COSMIC POWER taking over, so... most assume he's a lunatic, but a dangerous one.
This is actually a dog-training and breeding service; the number of supremely disappointed people who come here possibly number in the thousands, due to misunderstanding the name. Jacqui is a Dragonic Ranger, whose companion is a dog, and she's a master of animal training and breeding.
The person buried here, located in the ruined part of the city, is not actually named Butthead, but something connected to the end of the Twelfth Age changed his name to Butthead. All historical references, engravings, everything. Butthead was an 11th century wizard who built an elaborate deathtrap to guard his body and wealth; it's still there, having killed many adventurers over the years.
Grimtooth is a troll who makes traps for people. He uses his Deadly Dungeon of Death to test them out. You can come to him, sign a contract and enter the dungeon of death and get paid 200 GP per trap survived. If you survive, which many people don't. Don't say he didn't warn you.
This dungeon in the ruins simply is a small stone building with a door. There's no entry fee, and a big sign warning 'YOU WILL DIE'. People enter, never to be seen again, anyway.
In the Ruins, a woman claiming to be the wife of the Lich King dwells. It's generally assumed she's just a necromancer, and as long as her undead keep to themselves, the Blue has left her alone. Some suspect she handles affairs for the Lich King. It is generally thought she is not the 'Lich Queen' of a previous age reborn but she is known to wear a crown worn by said 'Lich Queen'.
This is the base of the Crusader in the city, commanded by a one-eyed gnome name Ricion. Ricion is most noted for killing a minotaru by biting its genitals off. Any of the Dark Gods can be worshipped here and Crusaders contacted. It is located in Rubble City, where the city is damaged but not destroyed.
Barney is a Bugbear who is also a master griller. If you want steak, this is the place to go. It is what passes for high class in this city (no halflings or kobolds allowed).
Imperial Envoy and priestess of Torog, she is a freak, which makes her ideal for this city. She handles imperial affairs and is known to be friendly with the Blue
The Blue's Bite is a wine bar in Drakkenhall, mostly patronized by Draconics and Hobgoblins. Their crab soup is incredible and the wine selection is very good, especially if you have draconic tastebuds. Those looking to meet with people in what passes for government in the city should meet them here for a good time. There is music and dancing from eight to midnight each night; sometimes there is music during the day. Warning: Strangers can expect to be gouged on the prices.
The ogres who run this inn really won't eat you but aren't very good at diplomacy or advertising. They cater to travelers, cheaply. You get a rough, lumpy bed, potato soup up to three times a day, with lamb added if you want it, and a lock on on the door. But you're safe here, because if anyone attacks their guests, the ogres WILL eat the intruders. Well worth the cost.
Not even close to the level of a Hobgoblin Khan, but it is a decent place to stay with nice beds, beautiful landscape tapestries in the Hobgoblin style, and a lot of dead animal bits. Trophies, mostly bones and stuffed animals. If you want to eat, dog, cat, goat, or mutton, this is your place to go. Reasonable rates and strong security as long as you haven't pissed off any hobgoblins. A bard sings lays of the glories of Hobgoblins past during the dinner and lunch hours.
