Episode 4: Druids and Tombs

Manny Mo'Jac says, "Okay, some of you may want to burn recoveries. Vendrik has 13 HP, Harrowhawk has 25, Kiara has 19, Samantha has 19. Niamh is unhurt, as is Luke. "

Manny Mo'Jac says, "Three of you are down by 5; Vendrik is down by 20"

Kiara says, "OOC Burn, baby, burn!"

Manny Mo'Jac says, "OOC Then roll your recovery if you're gonna burn one."

Kiara says, "roll 1d8"

Result is: (1d8) 7 for Kiara

Vendrik os Start with 2 recoveries d10+3x2

Result is: (d10+3) 12 (d10+3) 6

Samantha says, "OOC burning"

Manny Mo'Jac says, "OOC You add your Con bonus to those rolls, BTW"

Okay, I assume you set out to find the druids and get paid?

Akio says, "I assume we head back to town."

Kiara looks to their friend the bird and sees if they want to lead us in a particular direction!

DaR From Another Place says, "paid... you mean laid! Druids offered to pay but have only tree bark. Is that a dryad? bowchickachicka"

The bird leads you back to town, where you meet the druids at the stone circle; it's lunch time by the time you arrive in town. Ivan has your pay: twenty gold and three hundred silver, though in Harrowhark's case, that's twenty gold and a piece of heartwood.

Harrowhark greedily accepts the heartwood, ascertains it is thoroughly dead, and sticks it in her spider-themed backpack.

Ivan says, "Thank you for your assistance. We tracked down the other creatures and there should be no more trouble once that ill-omen leaves the sky."

Kiara takes one of the gold pieces, flips it in the air and catches it, then puts the lot in her secure pouch. "Pleasure working with you folks. What all did you find?"

Kiara looks over at the bird. "Your friend there able to give a report on what we ran into?"

Ivan says, "Probably the most troublesome of the creatures were the horde of flesh-ripping weasels."

Kiara winces. "oooh, yeah. Those can be nasty, especially if one gets stuffed down your pants."

Ivan tweets at the bird, which lands on his arm. "He has kept us informed of your progress. It's good to deal with honest folk."

Ivan says, "If you encounter any more escaped giant animals we missed, we'll pay you each ten gold per group you deal with."

Ivan says, "Just bring us the heads."

Harrowhark says, "Your proposal is acceptable."

Voice of John Biles says, "Y'all just got paid your 20 gold and 300 silver, Mike."

Ivan says, "Good luck on your ventures."

He says, "We will be returning to the Moon Wood should you need to find us, as our next ceremony here isn't for about a month."

Kiara grins. "Thank you for your business, and I'm sure we'll be happy to deal with you again."

Tobias asks, "Are we back in town, then?"

Voice of John Biles says, "You're at the druidic circle just south of town"

Manny Mo'Jac asks, "OOC Okay, anything you want to do in town before you head to go find that Tomb?"

Tobias asks, "10 silver is 1 gold, yes?"

Kiara says, "OOC Actually, let's ask the druids about the skeletons; I'd imagine the undead are as offensive to the druids as evil creepy changed beasts."

Manny Mo'Jac exclaims, "OOC Ask!"

Kiara asks Ivan, "By the way, have you heard anything about roving evil undead, or where they might be coming from? We ran into a bunch of skeletons while we were looking for the beasts."

Vendrik rumblingly adds, "Very old skellingtons. Mistress Niamh believes they sung of First Age."

Niamh says, "I 'believe' they sang a specific song of the First Age in the same way you 'believe' you have two feet and a head, Sir Vendrik."

Ivan says, "There should not be any roaming undead, unless some idiot found an ancient tomb, cracked it open and let the dead out, which happens every so often." He sighs. When he hears Vendrik, his eyes widen. "First Age? First Age?" For a moment, he looks boggled. "This valley has been settled off and on since the time of the Wizard King, but... It has been buried long enough that I was not aware. Please wait."

Ivan now confabs with the other druids and they form a square and do a dance.

He comes back to you. "It looks like a meteor cracked Knob Hill open. Every animal within a mile of Knob Hill is running away from it. We didn't see any undead but I fear there are some roaming the countryside. Also, it looks like the meteor broke the front door of said tomb open and there are now five panicky horses and some local boy trying to calm them, in front of it."

Ivan says, "If you can look into this, we'll pay you a like sum to our past payment to you."

Ivan says, "We're going to go gather things we'll need to eventually seal the place off."

Niamh says, "Your gold is welcome here. We shall leave as soon as a few arrangements are made."

Ivan nods. "Good luck, may nature bless your path."

Harrowhark goes and purchases a dungeoneering kit and a sack of salt.

Kiara lifts an arm to them in farewell.

Samantha says, "well, we did need finances for the mission."

You can make any purchases you need in town at book price sans trouble.

Harrowhark, after some consideration, purchases an extra sack of salt for Niamh out of what passes for friendship for Harrowhark.

Manny Mo'Jac says, "OOC Just add it to your character sheet"

Niamh goes up to the Temple of Sehanine and asks for a priest.

Vendrik makes an approving noise. "Getting paid for action already to be taken. Good business."

Kiara grins at Vennie. "I thought so."

Akio exclaims, "... that is HURTFUL, Mike. Harrow bought you a gift and everything!"

Niamh gets a meeting with Brother Wilkins. "Hello, sister Niamh. How fares your pilgrimage?"

Manny Mo'Jac says, "OOC Also, do you ask Luke to come with you? As he will wander off if you don't ask."

Niamh says, "Well. Here is..." she checks her notes, "4 gold and 60 silver pieces in tithes for the upkeep of the church."

He collects the tithe. "Thank you, Sister Niamh. Your tithe is most appreciated."

Vendrik informs Luke they are to be fighting the most blasphemous of undead, 12 ages or more in the making, so they will be finely aged like a good summer wine.

Niamh says, "A receipt for my records, if you please."

Akio asks, "John, may I convert my Onyx into 50gp of coin?"

Luke says, "I would be glad to show you I can smite more of them than you can!"

Voice of John Biles says, "Yes."

DaR From Another Place says, "Actually, Merc, Vendrik will buy it from you."

Brother Wilkins looks surprised, but gets a piece of paper with Sehanine's sigil on top, writes out a reciept and signs it. "Did you encounter the Priestess of Kord who is in town? She's a wild woman."

DaR From Another Place says, "Mercenaries like extremely portable wealth."

Niamh says, "One of the Golden Spear people?"

Kiara's eyes light up. "Wild woman, you say?"

Manny Mo'Jac says, "OOC Mike went to the temple; I didn't think anyone went with him, Travis."

Akio exclaims, "Deal!"

Niamh tucks the paper away. "That sounds much like a Kordite." She bids him farewell and returns to the group.

Kiara says, "OOC Aw. Right. :)"

Brother Wilkins said, "She challenged Mother Abigail to a wrestling contest; I had to fight in her stead and it did not go well." He sighed. "Kord's people are like that."

Harrowhark returns laden with new gear.

Harrowhark declares, "I opened my purse for elven rope. Someone else can buy a grappling hook and pitons."

Harrowhark also has a lantern, but not torches.

Vendrik attends to his equipment and stocks up on extra lantern oil.

Kiara says, "...you should have said something. I've got spider-silk rope, hook and pitons."

Luke flashes his claws. "I need no pitons!"

Niamh says, "Harrowhark. I propose devising a ritual method that may be performed on the group's blades before we enter, to imbue them temporarily with power to allow them to cut dry bones like flesh."

Luke says, "I can scale anything which is not super-slick."

Kiara asks, "Eh. Rooftops, tombs... a wall's a wall, right?"

Samantha says, "already got a hook."

Akio says, "Hrrm."

Luke says, "Some walls are made of simple brick; others drip oil and burst into flames, roasting you like the firest of hell, as you try to climb them!"

Akio says, "I can do that in a very straightforward way, Mike, but it means less healing."

Akio asks, "Do you have any spells that can conceivably imbue weapons with a damage type that hurts the undead?"

Tobias says, "I'm suggesting ritual magic. And no, I don't."

Tobias says, "Not without adaptation."

Akio says, "I know you are."

Kiara says, "Hey, how about those castle walls designed to crumble when you pull on them, and drop you into an alligator pit? Those are cool!" She winks at Luke.

Akio says, "Ritual magic burns a spell slot."

Tobias says, "Hmm."

Voice of John Biles says, "Pretty much any energy type will let you do normal damage to skeletons other than, ironically, normal weapon damage."

Voice of John Biles says, "However, imbuing something with Holy damage means they become Vulnerable."

Kiara also grabs extra lantern oil, just in case.

Tobias says, "I might not actually have a part in this given that holy damage is preferable here."

Akio says, "I can probably stand to give up my daily "heal using a free recovery" spell."

Akio says, "John, I feel like just about any of my basic "You do holy damage now!" spells is appropriate for a ritual here that will allow either the weapons of the stabby types to do holy, or even just let them do normal damage if you think that's too big a buff."

Luke says, "Alligators are quite formidable in the water."

Akio asks, "What am I gonna need in terms of components and cost here?"

Voice of John Biles says, "First, roll me 1d4; that's how many 15 minute segments the rite will take."

Harrowhark says, "roll 1d4"

Result is: (1d4) 2 for Harrowhark

Voice of John Biles says, "You could turn Javelin of Faith into a thing to let them do holy damage or you could sacrifice Turn Undead and they woudl do a bonus d8 damage as well as holy. You will need one bottle of holy water per two blessed weapons. They don't list it in the equipment list but I'm going to say 5 GP per flask for now."

Akio asks, "What would Bless get me?"

Akio says, "I'm NOT giving up Javelin, sorry guys, and I don't think the group wants me to give up turn undead."

Tobias says, "Correct."

Voice of John Biles says, "You dumped Bless for Turn Undead, I believe."

Akio says, "I... John, we were in the field."

Akio says, "If necessary, I will simply wait a day and go to sleep in order to pick any spell I want from my list."

Akio says, "I have in fact never had Bless memorized, but I can change that by -taking a nap-."

Akio says, "I would be comfortable with adapting Bless into something that lets everyone do regular damage."

Akio says, "It's not as big a bonus but it doesn't cripple me."

Akio says, "Theoretically Javelin of Faith for the Holy damage is probably better for the party as a group."

Akio says, "But that would leave me with fuck-all to do every fight."

Akio says, "and I'm not just standing around for hours while you guys actually hit things."

Frito says, "Yeah, that makes sense, and I have no problem with it."

Voice of John Biles says, "I'd say you could give 3 people holy damage or one person holy damage and +1d8 more holy damage if you ritualized it. It's not really as adept for this as something that does holy damage."

Akio exclaims, "Deal!"

Voice of John Biles asks, "What are you dumping to get bless?"

Akio says, "cure wounds."

Akio says, "I've already knocked it off my list."

Akio asks, "Melee people, do any of you fight with two weapons?"

Frito says, "Not unless you count throwing daggers and a crossbow."

Frito says, "I'd say just the one dagger is fine."

Voice of John Biles says, "Nope"

DaR From Another Place says, "Sword and board here."

Akio says, "Then you collectively owe me 10gp."

Akio says, "Wait, no."

Akio says, "7 gp 5sp."

Akio says, "They probably don't SELL holy water in half bottle sizes but presumably Harrowhark can MAKE it in half-bottle sizes with the right mats."

Frito says, "Kiara will pay. Then she'll have Vendrik and Sam owing a debt to her. ^_-"

Harrowhark gathers up bottles of holy water and almost buys chalk before thinking to ask Niamh if she carries ritual chalk.

Harrowhark says, "I can bless your weapons to smite the scourge of the undead before we enter the tomb."

Harrowhark says, "I suggest waiting to do so until we find the entrance."

Luke goes to the temple and performs a rite, after which his axe glistenes with electricity.

Niamh obligingly gets some out of her scribe's kit.

Harrowhark says, "Niamh, your offer is appreciated, and I have some interesting ideas about how we might combine our magics to create an undead killing zone."

Kiara's mouth purses in an 'ooooh'. "I'll take that."

Harrowhark says, "But the Raven Queen and I have this one."

Niamh says, "Very well."

Manny Mo'Jac says, "OOC You'll need to make a Wis + Necromancy check, DC 15"

Akio says, "Gotcha."

Akio asks, "... wait, now?"

Akio asks, "Are you waiting on me?"

Akio wasn't gonna do it until we actually FOUND the tomb and ascertained an entry point.

Frito says, "Hm, actually, if Luke could get his blessing now, that may not matter."

Voice of John Biles exclaims, "Ahh!"

Voice of John Biles says, "I was waiting on you."

Voice of John Biles says, "Luke already did his thing."

Okay, you set out for the tomb now that we are on the same page, after grabbing a quick lunch.

Kiara eats with gusto and great pleasure!

Harrowhark says, "Have any of the rest of you gone into long-forgotten crypts before?" She clearly only really expects an answer in the affirmative from Niamh.

You pass through hamlets and pastures without major incident; the farm regions of this valley are usually safe; it's the surrounding hills where trouble dwells.

Kiara says, "Yup. Bodyguarding her, even." She hooks a thumb at Niamh.

Luke says, "I have visited the Great Tombs of the Paladins. It was amazing! Endless ages of the holy dead, their bodies at rest, until the great battle at the end of time!"

Luke says, "But that was not a dangerous place, just a holy one."

Harrowhark says, "That's... that's super, Luke."

Vendrik grunts. "Dug out many cults from hell holes."

Harrowhark seems pleased by all of the yes's.

Luke says, "And of course, I have read all twenty-eight volumes of the Chronicles of Saint Mornay!"

Luke says, "That took weeks."

Luke said, "And three tests."

Niamh says, "I have delved into many crypts after knowledge."

A few clouds drift across the sky and distantly, you hear several people shouting angrily at sheep and other people shouting at them.

Niamh says, "The key is to let Kiara walk first, then lower a rope down into the pit trap so that she might climb out."

Harrowhark nods sagely.

Harrowhark says, "The good rope. Elven."

Niamh says, "She is most adept at avoiding the ancient, rusty spiked stakes at the bottom."

You then hear, ahead, someone shouting angrily about pigs and a lot of running about and shouting.

You soon discover a half-dozen hogs broke a fence and got into someone's melon crop and is laying waste to it, while the farmer shouts angrily and he and his two kids try to drive them off without much luck."

"DAMN YOU HOGS!" The hogs seem to enjoy being hit with a stick or maybe the melons are just too tempting.

Niamh asks him, "Do you wish a hand?"

The farmer blinks at Niamh in surprise, takes his hat off. "I'd appreciate that, sister. Liam's damn hogs came running this way like a wolf was chasing them but it was just them trying to STEAL MY MELONS again!"

Samantha says, "I see our rations for the next few days...."

Harrowhark says, "We can't steal a hog, Samantha."

Harrowhark says, "There's witnesses."

Samantha says, "hn."

Niamh says, "Sam, Kiara, if you could each take one side, I will herd them back through the break. Keep them from scattering."

Samantha takes a flank.

Harrowhark says, "I will assist Niamh."

Kiara sticks out her tongue at Niamh, but takes the other flank.

Luke watches curiously.

Vendrik watches with amusement, resisting the urge to strip down and and wrestle little baby hog.

Niamh, once the rogues are in place, attempts to herd the hogs away through the break by a combination of producing wolf yelps and shooting small, painful jets of flame from the tip of her staff at their flanks.

Manny Mo'Jac says, "OOC Make an Intelligence + Monastic Sage check, DC 15"

Harrowhark fires bursts of dark energy to help her!

Mike says, "roll 1d20+8"

Result is: (1d20+8) 15 for Mike

Tobias exclaims, "On the nose!"

The hogs flee, heading off the direction you can see they came.

The farmer rubs his head. "Wow." He has his kids bring each of you a loaf of jsut baked bread and gives you one melon.

He says, "I'm right grateful, sister."

Niamh, once they're through the break, points her staff at the fence and summons a small gang of work sprites, who have it back to new in about two minutes.

"Thank you so much," he says. "You are a kind soul. Are you headed to Santa Cora?" It is vaguely off the way you're going but you're not on the actual road.

Niamh says, "You are welcome." She munches the bread. "We are heading for Knob Hill."

The farmer says, "The grazing is poor there. Not much grows on it; it's all grey and black rocks with a few bits o' color. A few shrubs. But you'd get a good view of the valley from it." He points; you can see the very crest of the hill from here; it's a mix of grey and black rocks with a little bit of green; most of the hill is hidden by other hills and the endless farms with high crops.

The farmer says, "They say the Diabolist cursed that hill because it annoyed her somehow." You've never heard such a thing.

He continues, "I think there's some adventurers around that way, came through here yesterday. Bunch of barbarians and some weirdo on a giant frog."

Niamh says, "A giant frog?"

The farmer says, "It had a saddle and he rode it."

DaR From Another Place exclaims, "Sounds like the work of... gatormen!"

Niamh says, "Curious."

The farmer says, "Like a bullywug would, but he was human. Stupid looking, but human."

Niamh says, "Perhaps he was a well-disguised Bullywug."

The farmer shrugs. "Go with the gods, all of you."

Niamh says, "And you."

Kiara gives the farmer a cheery wave as they go.

You head onwards; the sun is lower in the sky but there's still probably 2-3 hours of daylight left (due to the time of year), when you crest a ridge and see Knob Hill in its full 'glory'. It's is an odd mix of granite and basalt, with some patches of dirt where stubborn grasses and shrubs cling to life. The sides are fairly steep but one side now has a big crack in it; you can make out five tethered horses and a man desperately trying to keep them from ripping free; you recognize Ralph, the Blacksmith Apprentice who used to be dating Jenny. Inside the crack, you can make out some big stone thing lying on one side of the crack, a door taken off its hinges.

Harrowhark sighs.

But you also feel something, a vague urge to LEAVE

It's not strong enough to overcome you but you feel the hill would prefer you leave, never to return.

To your knowledge, this was not the case pre-meteor.

Kiara asks, "Oi! Ralph! Need a hamd?"

Niamh makes no effort to lend a hand. "Interesting," she comments.

Harrowhark says, "roll 1d20+8"

Result is: (1d20+8) 23 for Harrowhark

Harrowhark says, "That is a CLASSIC First Age ward."

Harrowhark asks, "What do you think, Niamh? Just one wardstone, or a nested array?"

Ralph says, "Hey. Yeah, these horses are basically freaking out all the time. I guess there's a spell or something."

Harrowhark says, "I think just the one; multiples would have held up better."

Ralph says, "If I hadn't brought a lot of treats, some of them would have run by now and I'm starting to worry about the Company of the Golden Spear."

Kiara don't know nothin about no wardstones (well, beyond what a high elf would normally know), but she does know a bit about horses. "They hire you to keep an eye on them?" she asks as she goes over to help.

Voice of John Biles says, "A reminder. Kiara has Elf Queen 5, Druid 6 Icon benefits, Harrow has Lich King 6, Vendrik has Diabolist 6, Luke has Three 6 and Diabolist 5"

Mike says, "roll 1d20+8"

Result is: (1d20+8) 27 for Mike

Harrowhark sighs. "Are Adora and her friends inside?"

Frito says, "Ah, I wasn't sure if the benefits expired after you used them."

Voice of John Biles says, "They do."

Voice of John Biles says, "But you get new ones after each full heal up"

Frito says, "Right; I used the Druid benefit from the last Icon roll in poison resistance from the spiders."

Ralph says, "The Company of the Golden Spear are inside! They paid me fifty gold to watch their hourses. Corgin took his frog with him."

Voice of John Biles says, "Doh! Fixed"

Niamh considers the scene for a time in silence, save for muttering arcane words under her breath now and then and peering down her staff. Finally she speaks. "You are correct, Harrowhark. There is a single ward inside the tomb radiating dread. I believe it was vastly stronger when it was made, and the seal on the door had kept the effect down outside. Inside the tomb, closer to the ward, the effect is likely to be much stronger."

Harrowhark says, "At full strength it could have made a dragon veer off."

Niamh acerbically says, "I have heard that Corgin cannot stand to be parted from his lover."

Ralph says, "We saw a Black dragon on our way here but it stayed further east."

Ralph says, "And flew off."

Ralph says, "I think it's collecting meteor bits."

Kiara says, "That's... good? I suppose?" She pauses at the last. "Or not. Definitely not."

Akio exclaims, "... oh!"

Luke says, "An easy way to build your hoard!"

Akio exclaims, "I thought the Company of the Golden Spear was Adora's group!"

Voice of John Biles says, "No, I'm sorry."

Sniper Ox says, "ditto"

Voice of John Biles says, "https://keep-wiki.duckdns.org/Company%20of%20the%20Golden%20Spear.md"

Akio says, "Right, I only know they're not because of that page."

Voice of John Biles says, "I'm very sorry."

Voice of John Biles says, "My bad."

Harrowhark says, "You should take the horses along to the other side of the ridge, Ralph."

Ralph looks relieved to be told this and easily begins leading the horses because they WANT TO GO.

Kiara says, "Get 'em away from here, yeah."

Once he and the horses are gone, you can very, very faintly hear dripping water somewehre inside; the door frame has images of barbarian style warriors framing the old door; the top half of the old door is shattered and the rest has been pushed aside.

Harrowhark takes out some of the chalk she borrowed from Niamh, finds a small outcropping, and begins marking it up with the intricate runic diagrams of the Raven Queen.

Harrowhark says, "Everyone please lay your blades down inside the circle."

Luke moves to one side and prays quietly, something about the Great Gold Wyrm.

Vendrik does so, with the air of somoene who has been through this any number of times.

Samantha reluctantly does so

Kiara puts her dagger in the circle with a flourish.

Harrowhark takes out the bottles of holy water, and then, careful not to smudge her makeup, shotguns both of them, one after the other.

Harrowhark says, "roll 1d20+8"

Akio says, "..."

Akio says, "Welp."

Voice of John Biles says, "If you want to use your Lich King 6, I'll give you an auto-success on that roll."

Voice of John Biles says, "They'll remain blessed to the next full heal-up."

Akio says, "For blowing Lich King 6 I'd better also get the bonus damage."

Tobias exclaims, "Harrowhark doesn't just blow the Lich King for nothing!"

Voice of John Biles says, "You're getting a three encounter benefit instead of one encounter, so no."

Akio says, "Fair enough. I'll do so."

Voice of John Biles exclaims, "Okay!"

Harrowhark swells up slightly, replete with life and blood; you can all hear it thrum softly in her veins.

Harrowhark then gestures at the blades; purple energy arcs out of her, bathing them, and she withers back down to her usual appearance.

Harrowhark says, "Ugh."

Harrowhark wipes the back of her mouth with her hand.

Samantha says, "nice lightshow."

The sun has ticked a bit further, but you think you have about two more hours of sun before it sets.

Harrowhark says, "Just take your stabbing implement."

Harrowhark lights her lantern.

Kiara says, "Hey, you chugged that stuff like a champion." She picks up her dagger, and lights her lantern as well.

Vendrik fetches his blade, swishes it back and forth a few times, then nods and sheathes it.

Harrowhark says, "Vendrik, you're in front. Then Samantha and Kiara, then Niamh and myself. Luke in back."

Luke says, "Watch out for anything that looks like an Imperium Board or has funky floor patterns, Vendrik."

Vendrik clearly resists the urge to pat Harrowhawk on the head like a cute puppy who is playing guard dog. "Rooting in hell hole is old news. Killing skellingtons not so different from demon cults."

The floor is carved out of the natural rock, granite with bands of basalt. Smoothed flat but not cut. The walls and ceiling are the same, but the walls show the deeds of some barbarian warrior with a long beard and braided hair. The art is crude; if this is the tomb of an apprentice of the Archmage, they choose to decorate it like some Barbarian king's tomb.

Niamh taps her staff on the rocky ground and mutters something under her breath, causing clear light to shine from the crystal on the top.

You pass perhaps twenty feet into a chamber with a stone table in the middle; the walls show the chieftan holding court with his warriors; tunnels head north, east, and south from here; you hear a faint dripping of water down the southern tunnel. There are bones scattered across the chamber, there were probably skeletal guards here once. The dread is a little stronger but it's still not enough to MAKE you do anything.

Luke says, "I'm going to guess that Frog-Rider would have wanted to head for the water first. But he might not have gotten to decide."

Kiara asks, "Yeah, he might've wanted to get his froggie some cooling." She looks at Samantha. "You got anything, Sammie?"

Harrowhark says, "Probably the skeletons we killed."

Luke softly hums a hymn as he studies the various wall-carvings.

Harrowhark says, "We should probably proceed east as well."

Kiara says, "Makes as much sense as anything."

Vendrik says, "Or north, if source of skellingtons. Not having unchecked enemy at back."

Harrowhark grits her teeth.

Harrowhark says, reluctantly, "The Company of the Golden Spear are experienced, powerful adventurers." The lack of the adjective 'competent' is readily apparent. "They've been in here for over a day, probably closer to two."

Harrowhark says, "If they haven't come back out yet, either this tomb complex is very extensive or they need help."

Harrowhark says, "We should therefore probably follow them."

Niamh considers this.

Kiara says, "I suppose so. Might be good to have other warm bodies around if we get swarmed."

Kiara grins. "Besides, maybe we get to look cool riding to the rescue."

Niamh says, "Very well. If nothing else, we'll get our druid money."

Vendrik says, "Fine enough plan."

Samantha shrugs

Someone with thieving or arcane skills can try and turn the trpa off long enough to get by; this requires a DC 15 Intelligence check with relevant background like Thievery or Dungeoneering or Monastic Sage. Anyone who tires and fails will set off the trap on themself

Akio says, "Have fun, Mike."

Tobias says, "Lemme run something past you here, John."

Tobias asks, "If Niamh figures out how this thing works with that roll, can I use it to give Kiara a large bonus to a Sex-thievery roll to deactivate it?"

Tobias says, "DEX-Thievery."

Tobias turns off autocorrect.

Frito says, "I was wondering where that came from. ^^;;"

DaR From Another Place says, "Sex-thievery sounds more like Kiara's bag."

Voice of John Biles says, "This arcane trap requires intelligence to disarm, but if you want to work in tandom, then if you succeed, she'll get a +5 bonus."

Frito says, "Kiara'll go for it."

Tobias asks, "What's your int like, Travis?"

Tobias says, "Anyway, I guess that's what we'll do then."

Voice of John Biles says, "Okay, you'll have +10 and you add your level, so +11, Travis"

Kiara shuts down the trap long enough to pass it.

Vendrik pulls a small chalk stick out and roughly marks the edges of the traps while Kiara and Niamh work, as a reminder for the return or anyone following.

Kiara hi-five's Niamh. "The Dungeoneering Duo strikes again!"

Niamh says, "Brains, hands."

Kiara says, "And Numo." She laughs.

Niamh gives Numo a pat on her shoulder.

You continue onwards; you pass the remains of a blade trap, some puddles of water, and some scattered bones, then emerge into a chamber with a star chart set into the ceiling over a smooth gray stone platform; to one side, the bones of a dragon hang from the ceiling; on the other side, the bones of... a dolphin, maybe?

The floor is scattered with bones, some of them damaged.

From here, tunnels go north and south.

The dread is a little more intense, enough that at times, your body shivers, but still resistable.

Niamh asks, "Can any of our trackers pick up a trail?"

Manny Mo'Jac says, "OOC DC 15 to find Tracks again."

There are a lot of tracks around the room, the signs of a battle. The tracks of the Company of the Golden Spear lead north.

Vendrik asks, "We keep following others, yes?"

Kiara says, "Yeah."

Niamh says, "For now."

You head north. The air is dirtier here, less clean than it was elsewhere. Not so much you can't breathe, but oppressive.

The walls show caravans bringing treasures to the barbarian king.

But then they stop at a collapse; the ceiling fell down and the way forwards is blocked; the tracks lead right up to this collapse.

Harrowhark sighs.

Vendrik pokes cautiously at the collapse with his shield, checking for illusions and/or stability.

It's solid. You might be able to dig this out with some effort, but it would take a good while.

Kiara looks over the collapse with the experience of someone who's seen a bunch of roofs fall down almost on top of her.

Vendrik says, "So why they have not come back so easy. Have to go around, I am thinking."

Harrowhark says, "Yes."

Harrowhark says, "Let's go try the south passage."

You head south!

This route shows scenes of hunting.

Vendrik continues to mark the floors and walls with notes as they go.

You then enter a chamber full of hunting trophies which are now nothing but bones. However, there are two 'hunters' here (now skeletons) with four skeletal hounds. As your lantern light illuminates them, they come to life!
